LEGAL CASHIERING AT WOODSTOCK

Our Accounts team handles the financial operations that keep the business running smoothly – from consultant payments and invoicing to compliance, reconciliations, and reporting. They work closely with teams across the firm to ensure accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in everything they do. The team is led by Head of Accounts, Ellie Emery, who oversees day-to-day processes and supports our consultants with finance-related queries.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for an experienced and detail-focused Accounts Supervisor to help grow our legal cashiering function, with a particular focus on property transactions and completions. You'll ensure compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules, manage day-to-day financial operations, and oversee a small team of one to two people.

This is a hands-on role that requires a strong grasp of legal finance, particularly within conveyancing-heavy environments, as well as the ability to lead and support a team of 2–3 people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee daily legal cashiering tasks, including:

• Processing client and office account receipts and payments

• Managing a high volume of property transactions and completions end-to-end

• Bank reconciliations

• Posting transactions accurately in compliance with SRA Accounts Rules

• Ensure all financial processes adhere to internal controls and regulatory standards

• Liaise with legal teams to coordinate disbursements, completions, and billing queries

• Monitor client account balances, ensuring timely transfers and compliance with rules

• Produce internal reports and assist with external audits when required

• Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes within the cashiering function

• Work closely with Legal Ops, Compliance, and Finance teams to ensure smooth operations

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years' experience in legal cashiering, with strong exposure to property transactions and completions

• Excellent working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules

• Confident managing and supporting a small team

• Strong organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail

• Experience using legal accounting software

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Experience working in a legal tech company or modern law firm
