Job Description

What your day looks like

You move easily between the production floor and engineering huddles—owning the technical backbone of aerospace components from concept through launch. In the morning, you translate drawings and specifications into action: authoring APQP-compliant manufacturing documentation and building clear Visual Work Instructions (VWI). By midday, you’re refining equipment layouts, tooling plans, and cellular manufacturing concepts. In the afternoon, you review production drawings, run RC/PA investigations, and kick off cost-reduction experiments. You close the day with a quick sync on supplier process issues and progress on New Product Introduction (NPI) parts.

Your impact

  • Serve as the focal point for technical execution on assigned projects—ensuring compliance with customer and product procurement specifications and validating that processes meet internal and external requirements.
  • Plan and prepare manufacturing documentation per Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Advanced Quality Planning (AQP); create crystal-clear VWIs and Work Combination Sheets (WCS), and apply operation time standards.
  • Originate and develop new manufacturing and tooling concepts; coordinate and support tooling design for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Determine equipment needs, tooling approaches, and cellular manufacturing strategies for your area; eliminate waste and drive to cost targets.
  • Ensure manufacturability of detail parts, sub-assemblies, and top assemblies; assist in the initial manufacturing cycles for NPI.
  • Work on or lead a Production Support Team to resolve manufacturing issues; conduct Root Cause and Preventive Actions for nonconforming product.
  • Perform, document, and validate processes such as machining, forming, stamping, heat treating, and chemical processing across Titanium, Inconel, Aluminum, Stainless Steel, and O1/D2 tooling steels.
  • Act as a liaison between Senior Aerospace SSP manufacturing and customer cognizant engineering; support planning document releases.
  • Partner with suppliers to develop and correct processes; follow up on process effectiveness post-implementation.
  • Provide robust input to estimating and quoting; prepare improvement reports; lead or contribute to special, multi-discipline cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure all engineering changes are fully documented and implemented; recommend credible product, tooling, and process solutions.

How we’ll work together

You’ll operate under minimal supervision. The Manufacturing Manager will define specific responsibilities based on your expertise and will review them at least annually—ideally aligned to the performance review cycle or when organizational changes occur. You’ll also help craft and carry out operational policies and procedures across manufacturing areas.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering discipline with 3+ years of engineering experience (preferably aerospace); OR MS with 2+ years in aerospace.
  • Experience in fast-paced manufacturing preferred; knowledge of sheet metal processes (welding, forming, NDT), geometric tolerances, and aerospace materials preferred.

Skills you bring

  • Communication: Excellent written and spoken English; able to author procedures, policies, and work orders; confident presenting to large groups.
  • Reasoning: Comfortable following detailed written/oral instructions and solving problems with many concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Math: Proficient with averages, summations, standard deviations, statistical trends, proportions, and percentages.
  • Other: Strong problem-solving; effective independently and on teams; familiarity with aircraft ECS ducting preferred; understanding of forming, welding, machining, and heat treating; basic NDT and GD&T; working knowledge of MRP/ERP requirements and order generation logic.

EAR/ITAR Compliance:

Access to our facility (and, therefore, employment) is restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/ or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, U.S. refugees, asylees or temporary residents under amnesty provisions [as defined in 8 USC 1324b(a)(3)] and properly licensed foreign persons. Applicants receiving a conditional offer of employment will be required to provide information to determine whether they are subject to these regulations and, if so, to assess their country of chargeability for export control purposes. Additionally, potential employee’s names will be screened against the Consolidated Screening List (maintained by the United States government) to determine eligibility to receive technical data.
