Overview
Join a leading Hong Kong bank as an AI & Data Governance Manager in the Data Science & Governance team, reporting to the Team Head & Senior Manager, AI & Data Governance. This is an individual contributor role focused on building and embedding AI and data governance guidelines, coordinating governance forums and working closely with risk controllers, business users and senior management to ensure responsible AI use and strong data controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate AI and data governance meetings and committees, including preparation of agendas and materials, stakeholder liaison, minute‑taking and tracking follow‑up actions.
- Develop and implement AI‑ and data‑related policies, guidelines and best practices, covering areas such as controls for AI and data usage, data transfer and sharing, and AI lifecycle management (from use‑case assessment to ongoing monitoring).
- Work closely with risk controllers, business units and senior management to embed AI and data governance requirements into processes and projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and internal risk frameworks.
- Support the enhancement of data governance, data privacy and data protection controls, helping to translate regulatory guidance (e.g. HKMA, PCPD) into practical business rules and standards.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory developments in AI and data governance, and recommend updates to internal policies, standards and control measures where needed.
- Contribute to AI and data governance awareness and training initiatives, helping to strengthen data/AI literacy and responsible‑use culture across the bank.
Requirements
- University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data/Information Management, Risk, Business or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years’ relevant experience in data governance, data privacy/protection, operational risk or compliance in financial services; banking background is highly preferred, with insurance/other FIs also considered depending on scale and complexity.
- Hands‑on experience in data governance and/or data privacy/data protection domains (e.g. data policies, standards, data usage controls, data sharing and transfer governance).
- Familiarity with AI concepts and lifecycle (from model/use‑case design to monitoring), and exposure to AI governance, AI risk management or AI‑related project coordination is an advantage.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to work with risk, compliance, legal, IT and business users, and to communicate effectively with senior management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Chinese, with strong analytical and organisational skills and a high level of integrity and professionalism.
