Senior AI Defense Engineer

Overview
We are seeking a Senior AI Defense Engineer to join a growing team in a newly created role focused on evaluating and securing AI technologies. This position will play a critical role in assessing AI tools, ensuring safe and responsible usage, and advising senior leadership on risks, capabilities, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate AI systems to determine safety, reliability, and appropriate use within the organization
- Conduct AI validation and testing to ensure models behave as expected and identify risks or inconsistencies
- Troubleshoot AI performance issues and provide solutions when outputs are inaccurate or unreliable
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including legal and executive leadership, to communicate AI capabilities, limitations, and risks
- Provide clear, concise explanations of complex AI concepts to non-technical audiences (e.g., Directors, CIO, attorneys, stakeholders)
- Stay current on emerging AI technologies, trends, and security considerations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience with AI integration, validation, and testing
- Proven ability to troubleshoot AI models and outputs when behavior deviates from expectations
- Direct experience with Anthropic Claude (experience limited to ChatGPT or Copilot alone is not sufficient)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to executive and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as ISC2 Building AI Strategy
- Degree in a related field (not required)
- Experience working in regulated or risk-sensitive environments
