Title: AI Engineer - AI Solutions
Duration: Full Time
Location: Dallas, TX - Hybrid Onsite 4 days/week
Compensation: $75,000 - $140,000

Overview
This role focuses on building and supporting production Generative AI systems, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, LLM-powered applications, and agent-based tools. You'll work closely with senior engineers and contribute to real, user-facing AI solutions early in your tenure.
This is a hands-on engineering role designed for someone early in their career who wants exposure to how enterprise AI systems are actually built, deployed, and maintained in production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development of RAG pipeline components: • Assist with document ingestion, text chunking, and embedding workflows
- Configure retrieval mechanisms using vector search platforms
- Deploy components within containerized or serverless cloud environments
- Build backend services for AI applications: • Develop APIs using Python frameworks (e.g., FastAPI)
- Define request/response schemas and connect endpoints to AI workflows
- Integrate with orchestration frameworks for agent-based systems
- Work within standardized AI architecture patterns: • Interact with LLMs through centralized routing layers
- Access tools and services via secure, controlled gateway patterns
- Support vector database management: • Maintain and update indexes for knowledge retrieval
- Tune chunking strategies and retrieval configurations
- Monitor data freshness and system performance
- Assist with prompt development: • Create and refine prompts for use cases like Q&A, summarization, and classification
- Follow established best practices for structured prompts and safety controls
- Write and maintain tests: • Develop unit and integration tests for pipeline components
- Validate retrieval accuracy, API behavior, and prompt outputs
- Monitor system performance: • Track application metrics like latency, error rates, and throughput
- Review logs and traces to identify issues
- Escalate anomalies to senior engineers
- Contribute to enterprise integrations: • Help connect AI applications to internal systems and APIs
- Support development of connectors under senior guidance
- Follow engineering standards and best practices: • Participate in code reviews and version control workflows
- Adhere to naming conventions, CI/CD processes, and logging standards
- Apply cost tracking and observability practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or currently pursuing final year)
- Foundational Python skills: • Understanding of functions, classes, and basic data structures
- Familiarity with virtual environments and package management
- Exposure to AI/LLMs: • Experience through coursework, internships, or personal projects
- Familiarity with at least one LLM API or framework
- Basic Git knowledge: • Branching, committing, pull requests, and resolving simple conflicts
- Understanding of testing fundamentals: • Familiarity with unit testing concepts and frameworks
- Strong interest in production AI systems: • Curious about how systems are built, scaled, and maintained-not just model theory
Nice to Have
- Experience with: • Python web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, etc.)
- Vector databases or search systems
- Containerization (Docker) or cloud platforms
- Exposure to: • Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) concepts

- API integrations or backend development
