The Opportunity
This is a part-time, unpaid, temporary training position (approximately 20 hours per week) classified as a Trainee to provide educational experience in software development and AI engineering. The ideal candidate is a current student seeking real-world experience to significantly impact their career.
What You Will Do:
The primary goal of this role is to provide you with hands-on experience and transferable skills, with close guidance and supervision from co-founders. You will apply and expand your technical knowledge by working on core product development:
- Core Software Development: Contribute to the engineering and maintenance of the core application, including transitioning static data to dynamic real-time data and assisting with the development backlog following the testing phase.
- Technical Exposure: Gain direct working experience with key professional tools and technologies, including Firebase Firestore
, Flutter
, Dart
, Claude
, Figma
, and Google Workspace
.
- Version and Code Control: Learn and assist in the maintenance and integration of application versions and managing front-end/backend updates.
- AI/Software Engineering: Gain practical exposure to AI-powered features and contribute to general software engineering tasks.
- Cross-Functional Experience: Work directly with the founding team, providing an opportunity to wear multiple hats and gain experience well beyond a typical intern role.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Currently a student, or recently graduated, with a foundational knowledge of software engineering, backend development, or related technical fields.
- Highly ambitious and looking for a specific opportunity for growth.
- Able to start by mid-May to align with the product launch and testing timeline.
- Must be willing to sign an NDA and adhere to company policies.
Important Legal and Compensation Details (Massachusetts Trainee Position)
This is an educational training experience, and therefore, it is unpaid. By applying, you acknowledge that this position meets the six legal requirements for an unpaid trainee under the Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards:
- The experience is for the benefit of the trainee.
- The focus is on training, including providing transferable skills.
- The company will derive no immediate advantage from your activities, and operations may occasionally be impeded due to the need for supervision and training.
- The trainee does not displace regular employees.
- There is a mutual understanding that the trainee is not entitled to wages.
- There is no promise of a job at the conclusion of the training period.
Future Growth:
- While there is no guarantee of employment, it is possible that if the company secures investment and the trainee performs exceptionally well, they could be brought on as the first employee with a check and equity.
