AI/ML Data Scientist for Innovation

Join a prestigious global provider of legal services as an AI/ML Data Scientist for Innovation. This full-time, direct hire role is based onsite, where you will leverage your expertise to construct advanced data-driven solutions aimed at enhancing the quality, efficiency, and decision-making throughout the firm’s operations.

In this key position, you will collaborate closely with attorneys, innovation leaders, and cross-functional teams to transform complex legal and organizational challenges into secure and scalable AI/ML solutions. You will manage the complete lifecycle of each solution, from experimentation and performance measurement through to deployment and monitoring. Your responsibilities will include:

• Curation and governance of datasets
• Establishing accuracy and safety criteria
• Developing production-ready models and applications utilizing both large language model (LLM)-based and traditional machine learning approaches

You will report to the Director of Innovation Engineering and be a driving force in advancing the firm's data science initiatives. Your work will streamline processes, generate actionable insights, and enable innovative capabilities that will ultimately enhance client outcomes.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related quantitative field; advanced degrees preferred.
• Minimum of seven years' experience creating AI/ML solutions in professional services, financial, legal, or technical sectors, with strong cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and AI/ML prototyping, along with advanced SQL skills.
• Hands-on experience with AI platforms and tools such as OpenAI, Microsoft Azure OpenAI, and knowledge graph applications.
• Ability to design and implement evaluation frameworks for AI solutions regarding accuracy, robustness, and fairness.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Plotly, Tableau, and Power BI, enabling effective communication of complex findings.
• Familiarity with legal use cases including due diligence and contract review; experience in a law firm is a plus.
• Proven success in mentoring team members and adopting AI solutions within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include:

• Mapping end-to-end legal processes into actionable data and AI requirements.
• Designing and prototyping AI/ML applications to optimize performance and scalability.
• Delivering impactful solutions for legal workflows such as contract analysis and document summarization.
• Establishing evaluation standards for production-ready AI solutions, with ongoing monitoring.
• Creating internal libraries and documentation to streamline AI development.
• Working collaboratively across technical and legal teams to align priorities and foster solution adoption.
• Presenting insights and evaluation results clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Contributing to the firm's innovation strategy and AI enablement initiatives.
• Mentoring and supporting the growth of the data science team.
