Summary:
Join our dynamic team as an AI Research Engineer, where you will work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI technologies and real-world product applications. At Meta, you will be embedded in Facebook's ecosystem, playing a key role in reimagining core experiences and transforming how users discover content, connect with creators, and interact with one another. You will tackle bold initiatives in applied Generative AI (GenAI), including:
- Developing post-training, evaluation, and serving systems to turn advanced LLMs into reliable, high-quality product experiences used by billions.
- Creating a versatile agentic platform supporting a wide array of GenAI products, facilitating faster, safer, and scalable team shipping.
- Building systems that achieve capacity and cost optimizations through model fine-tuning, post-training, and various innovative techniques.
- Adapting and scaling these systems effectively across Meta's diverse range of products.
Why Join Us:
- Impact at Scale: Your contributions in post-training processes, evaluation frameworks, and serving architecture will directly influence billions of daily interactions.
- Ownership: Enjoy full ownership of the models we develop, overseeing everything from training data to production behavior and impact measurement.
- Challenging Problems: Dive into unsolved challenges, such as evaluating open-ended conversational AI at scale and fine-tuning for groundedness across a myriad of creator profiles.
- High Autonomy: Be part of a lean, experienced team where your technical direction significantly shapes the future of our initiatives, instead of solely focusing on execution.
Your work may cover areas such as post-training pipelines (SFT, RLHF, synthetic data generation), evaluation methodology (auto-judge design, benchmark construction, human-AI calibration), production serving systems (RAG, memory, multi-modal generation), and building agentic products for real users.
Required Skills:
- Contribute to training next-generation multimodal foundation models, advancing their capabilities for understanding, generation, and grounding for product applications.
- Support innovative data sourcing, ensure high-quality pre/mid/post-training data curation, and optimize data pipelines for multimodal LLMs.
- Lead and collaborate on research pushing the boundaries of multimodal reasoning and generation, focusing on applicable research for product development at Meta.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a technical lead, spearheading major technical initiatives with cross-functional (XFN) impact.
- Strong engineering background (PhD in ML is not mandatory).
- Experience working in AI/ML environments.
- Adept at managing data pipelines and versioning.
Public Compensation:
$88.46/hour to $257,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
