Functional Description

The Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) team plays a crucial role in overseeing compliance, risk-taking, and risk management activities at the company. We are dedicated to identifying, managing, and mitigating risks within American Express's appetite for risk. Our function encompasses maintaining a robust risk management framework while adhering to regulatory compliance, driving growth, and creating awareness around regulatory matters.

The Technical Risk Management (TRM) team, under the Chief Risk Officer, establishes frameworks for emerging technologies and their responsible adoption within the organization. We are searching for a Manager in AI Risk Management to manage risks associated with the development and deployment of AI technologies.

Your Impact in This Role

• Develop and maintain the AI risk management framework and policy, focusing on identifying, measuring, managing, monitoring, and reporting AI-related risks.
• Recognize new and elevated risks associated with non-Traditional AI and ensure appropriate controls align with our risk framework.
• Implement ongoing monitoring and testing processes to assess AI risks effectively.
• Spot emerging themes in AI risk.
• Collaborate with leaders across Technology, Innovation, Risk, Legal, and Data to present the organization’s AI risk profile.
• Create reporting for the Board and management on significant AI risk metrics.
• Design AI risk training resources to enhance awareness and capability.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in AI Risk Management or implementing AI safeguards.
• Strong background in risk management, compliance, and governance.
• Deep technical knowledge of AI technologies and their associated risks.
• Advanced degree in Technology, Engineering, Risk Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields is preferred.
• Familiarity with relevant global Financial Services Industry regulations, AI standards, and ethical principles.

• Ability to work collaboratively in ambiguous situations to achieve results.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills to influence cross-functional teams.
• Certifications relevant to the industry (e.g., GARP's Risk and AI) are an advantage.

Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually plus bonuses and benefits.
