Role: Algorithmic Trading Support - Operations & FIX Protocol Specialist

Position Overview The Algo Trading Support Specialist will play a key role in maintaining the stability and performance of the firm’s electronic trading platforms and proprietary systems. This individual will partner closely with trading desks, clients, and engineering teams to ensure seamless platform operations across equities and fixed income markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver front-line technical support for internal trading teams and external clients utilizing proprietary execution and order management platforms. Escalate complex issues to engineering teams as required.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to order routing, execution flow, matching, trade lifecycle events, and downstream processing.
- Implement and support client-specific configuration requests within algorithmic trading and alternative trading systems.
- Monitor and manage support queues, shared communication channels, and ticketing systems to ensure service-level commitments are met.
- Follow established incident, change, and problem management frameworks while identifying recurring patterns and recommending process improvements.
- Participate in user acceptance testing, release validation, and other project-related initiatives.
- Provide coverage during assigned support hours as part of a rotating schedule.
- Collaborate with global support counterparts in EMEA and APAC under a follow-the-sun model, including pre-market readiness checks and coordinated handovers.
- Perform regional start-of-day system validations to confirm connectivity, infrastructure integrity, and trading readiness.
- Support scheduled maintenance windows, including occasional weekend release activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years of application or production support experience within a financial services environment (buy-side, sell-side, or trading venue).
- Strong hands-on experience supporting applications in Linux-based environments.
- In-depth knowledge of the FIX protocol and electronic order flow.
- Technical onboarding experience for FIX connectivity with clients and/or trading venues
- Solid understanding of equity market structure and electronic execution workflows.
- Ability to articulate expected behavior of common execution algorithms (e.g., VWAP, TWAP, Implementation Shortfall, POV).
- Experience with scripting in Python or automation to streamline operational processes.
- Proficiency working with relational databases (MSSQL, Oracle, Sybase), including advanced query development.
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including routing and firewall troubleshooting.
