Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Analyst I, Budget and Finance - CyFair supports the attainment of campus strategic goals and plans through analysis of budgetary, financial, and operational data, and making data-based recommendations. Supports campus Managers and Executives with day-to-day management of the campus budget, including analysis, forecasting, reallocation, and reporting to ensure all campus budgetary guidelines and goals are met and maintained. Position will work closely with Managers and Executives. Works collaboratively and partners with colleagues across campus to respond to a variety of requests for research, analysis, and development of reports and dashboards. May work collaboratively with colleagues across campus to design, plan, and implement business process improvements, including technology applications.

Essential Job Functions

  • Monitors and analyzes campus budgetary and financial performance on a regular basis. Evaluates and forecasts campus spending while recognizing trends. Provides financial analysis and support for campus-wide operational initiatives
  • Reviews budget trends comparing to expected performance and making recommendations, as necessary. Summarizes and submits recommendations for the funding or reallocation of funds
  • Performs cost-benefits, operational and financial analysis
  • Works closely with Managers and Executives to assist with the development of the annual budget
  • Examines budgets and financials for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with procedures and policies
  • Assists with the day-to-day functions of the campus budget and finance department
  • Designs and develops reports and dashboards for campus. Uses query functions in Lone Star systems to provide data in useful formats
  • Works as a team member on broader and more complex projects, as directed by management
  • Seeks new ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness, and makes recommendations
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule And Conditions

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
