About The Company And Team

George Weston Limited (GWL) is a large Canadian public company holding real estate (Choice Properties REIT) and retail (Loblaw Companies Limited) operating businesses, while providing several corporate shared services to its operating businesses. As a key business partner across the group of companies, the Risk Advisory team is a progressive and dynamic world-class consulting function that is focused on delivering innovative, valuable, and effective Advisory and Assurance and Enterprise Risk Management services by supporting the businesses to protect, grow, and improve its governance, operations, and results.

The Assurance and Advisory (“A&A”) function acts as a second set of eyes on key risk areas of the business, providing independent assurance to the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee that key business areas are functioning effectively. We also work directly with the business to identify key operational improvement opportunities and high-value recommendations to improve operational efficiencies and reduce overall risk.

The Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”) program assists all areas of the business in managing risks within appropriate levels of tolerance by bringing a systematic approach and methodology for evaluating, measuring and monitoring key risks. Risks are not eliminated through the ERM program; but rather, are identified and managed in line with the Trust’s Risk Appetite Statement and within approved risk tolerances. The results of the ERM program are used, in addition to other business planning processes performed by the business, to identify emerging risks to the Trust, prioritize risk mitigation activities and develop risk-based action plans.

You will work with a team that values diverse ideas, prioritizes a culture of inclusion, and develops our talent from within. We hire business-minded and entrepreneurial people, who strive to learn and solve problems. We will fuel your curiosity with challenging work, talented colleagues, and creative learning resources. At every level, we champion leaders who influence and achieve results. By prioritizing people development, we incubate talent and thought leadership, which we can then apply across our businesses.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Analyst, Risk Advisory, you will work directly with our clients to aid in the scoping, planning, execution, and final delivery of our value-add engagements for both the A&A and ERM pillars, liaising with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders in critical and exciting operational and strategic areas. The engagements range from process optimization, data analytics and visualization, risk and controls assessments, assurance, and special high-priority consulting projects as requested by Senior Management and the Board.

The company is looking for a collaborative individual who can build meaningful relationships across cross-functional teams to create a positive impact on both our clients and our team. With responsibilities ranging from working with our stakeholders on-the-ground to communicating results to Senior Leadership, we are looking for a candidate with entrepreneurial and business-oriented mindset, who is self-driven and has demonstrated success in managing and balancing a wide range of initiatives.
