Responsibilities:
- Leverage extensive datasets to formulate cutting-edge research questions and develop data-driven products.
- Create innovative quantitative methods built on Meta's advanced data infrastructure.
- Quickly learn and adapt to new tools, systems, and programming languages as required by specific projects.
- Share best practices in quantitative analysis with our partners.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, UX researchers, and product managers to achieve complex objectives that provide significant value.
- Proactively identify, define, and implement innovative solutions with clear milestones.
- Explore new opportunities for applied science contributions in alignment with Meta's long-term strategy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- PhD in Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in a role as an applied research scientist or similar position.
- Proficient in empirical research methodologies for data-driven decision making.
- Expertise in developing algorithms using programming languages such as Python, C, C++, or Java.
- Experience with data analysis utilizing languages like Python.
- Must secure work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of large-scale distributed AI training and inference techniques.
- Strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with analyzing large datasets using tools like Presto, Hive, or Spark.
- Documented history of publications in prestigious journals or conferences (e.g., ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, IJCAI, AAAI, KDD, WWW, JMLR, JACM, MLSys).
- Experience in solving large-scale combinatorial optimization problems.
Public Compensation:
$74.04/hour to $217,000/year plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
