Applied Research Scientist (Speech)

General Description of the Role

Emotech is currently raising the state-of-the-art in multiple areas of speech and language processing. We focus on the low resource languages that others find too difficult and currently have best-in-kind speech to text and text to speech for Arabic dialects. We are looking for Speech Applied Research Scientists who want to boost their careers working in real-life projects that can make a difference to our customers.

As an Applied Research Scientist, you will be responsible for

• Conducting applied research in areas like speech to text and text to speech
• Collaborating closely with the research team to turn research into working solutions
• Delivering production-ready code that can be deployed to customers

Required qualifications:

These are the minimum qualification we would be looking for:

• Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline with a Machine Learning focus
• Advanced knowledge of at least a programming language commonly used in the community (e.g. Python, Rust, C++11)
• Knowledge of algorithms for deep learning, speech processing and natural language processing.

Desired requirements

These are the requirements for the role, we want to hear from you if you fit at least 2 or 3 of these:

• 2/3 years working experience in the field in industry or academia
• Experience working with foundation speech models like wav2vec2.0 or Whisper
• Experience with open source environments like Huggingface or SpeechBrain
• Experience in Linux environments, working with CUDA-capable machines
• Experience working with large amounts of data and performing data processing at scale.
