Job Description

The Assistant Manager Compliance is responsible for driving strategic departmental projects, embedding continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring robust governance and quality control across the sanctions compliance framework. This role is critical in leveraging data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making, enhance risk management, and optimize business performance across the company.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Interpreting domestic and international sanctions and maintaining awareness of those that impact the company.
  • Ensuring adherence to the Group Sanctions Policy and supporting the Senior Compliance Manager in identifying sanctions risk themes and trends.

Key Result Areas:

Project Management & Continuous Improvement:

  • Leading sanctions-related projects and optimizing compliance processes.
  • Collaborating with Technology and Operations teams for system upgrades and automation.

Data Analysis & Analytics:

  • Analyzing large compliance-related datasets and designing dashboards for reporting.
  • Monitoring adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Governance & Oversight:

  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks (OFAC, EU, UN, UK, UAE).
  • Maintaining secure record-keeping as per policies and guidelines.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Acting as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders on compliance matters.
  • Providing training and guidance on sanctions compliance requirements.

Reporting & Monitoring:

  • Developing systems to track compliance activities and regularly updating senior leadership on performance.

Operating Environment:

  • Strong knowledge of the company’s Compliance, Sanctions, AML, and KYC policies.
  • Experience within the financial services industry and understanding of sanctions screening processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • 8–10 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or relevant functions within banking or financial services.
  • Extensive project management experience with strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools for data visualization.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Language Requirements:

Proficient in English; additional languages may be advantageous.
