Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Support the Plant Manager in planning, organizing, and directing all plant activities to meet production schedules and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and established safe work practices; report all unsafe conditions or behaviors to the Plant Manager and/or EHS Manager.
- Lead by example and promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Supervise, manage, and develop employees, including performance management, coaching, and disciplinary processes in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Coordinate with maintenance, quality, logistics, and engineering teams to maintain optimal production flow and minimize downtime.
- Monitor production metrics to ensure that targets for safety, quality, cost, and delivery are consistently achieved.
- Assist in evaluating equipment capacity and performance; recommend and implement improvements to meet monthly and long-term production goals.
- Maintain accurate departmental records, ensuring compliance with company retention and destruction policies.
- Communicate regularly with the Plant Manager regarding plant performance, personnel issues, production schedules, and operational challenges.
- Drive proactive initiatives to achieve departmental and company objectives, including cost reduction, efficiency gains, and workforce engagement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the automotive industry and a unionized facility.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to build positive relationships with hourly and salaried employees, including union representatives.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and capable of analyzing and presenting operational data.
- Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles, problem-solving methodologies, and continuous improvement tools.
Education:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Business Administration, Manufacturing Management, Engineering, or a related field.
