Primary Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a fast-growing and dynamic investment team, reporting to the Head of Private Investments and supporting the Investment Committee in expanding RFO’s China investment platform and portfolio management activities.
  • Proactively source and originate investment opportunities across China, with a focus on growth-stage and pre-IPO companies. This is a sourcing-intensive role with strong expectations for developing a robust deal pipeline.
  • Identify, evaluate, and follow up on investment opportunities generated through corporates, investment banks, venture capital firms, and other intermediaries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporates, founders, investment banks, and industry participants to support proprietary deal origination.
  • Conduct initial screening and evaluation of investment opportunities, including market assessment, business model review, and financial analysis.
  • Support investment due diligence (financial, commercial, and strategic), coordinating with internal teams and external advisors where required.
  • Assist in transaction execution from initial evaluation through to closing, including preparation of investment materials, internal approvals, and coordination with stakeholders.
  • Monitor portfolio companies where applicable and support ongoing portfolio management initiatives.
  • This role requires extensive travel, primarily within China, for meetings, site visits, and engagement with founders, intermediaries, and portfolio companies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, or public markets investing.
  • Demonstrated experience in deal sourcing, investment evaluation, or transaction execution.
  • Strong financial analysis, valuation, and financial modelling capabilities.
  • Experience conducting commercial and financial due diligence on investment opportunities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities with corporates, founders, investment banks, and intermediaries.
  • Ability to independently develop and manage investment pipelines and deal flow.
  • Experience in private equity transactions within technology sectors, particularly AI and emerging technologies, is preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking, communication, and investment presentation skills.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English (spoken and written) is required; proficiency in Cantonese is an advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently within China.
