The Associate Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) serves as a key investment spokesperson and subject matter expert for BMO Global Asset Management’s ETF platform. This role is responsible for translating the insights, views, and actions of investment teams into clear, compelling, and actionable messaging that supports retail clients and distribution partners across market environments.

This is an ideal opportunity for an investment professional who combines strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate confidently and persuasively. The Associate CPM plays a central role in positioning BMO GAM’s ETF capabilities, supporting asset growth and retention, and reinforcing the firm’s investment discipline and competitive strengths.

The role requires close collaboration with Portfolio Management, Product, Sales, Marketing, Distribution, and other internal partners.

Key Responsibilities

Investment & Product Expertise

  • Develop and maintain deep expertise across assigned ETF strategies, including portfolio construction, positioning, performance drivers, and risk exposures.
  • Build a strong understanding of investment team philosophies, processes, and decision‑making, and contextualize those insights within product outcomes.
  • Monitor market developments, portfolio performance, and competitive trends to generate timely, client‑relevant insights.

Investment Messaging & Content

  • Lead the creation and ongoing evolution of investment messaging for assigned ETF strategies.
  • Produce high‑quality presentations, portfolio commentaries, market updates, and client‑ready materials.
  • Translate complex investment concepts into clear, engaging narratives tailored to retail and internal audiences.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across all product communications and collateral.

Sales & Distribution Support

  • Act as a trusted investment resource for sales teams by proactively anticipating and addressing client questions.
  • Support RFPs, sales training, and ad hoc product inquiries.
  • Communicate product activity, positioning, and performance clearly to support client engagement, asset retention, and growth.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent BMO GAM’s ETF strategies across internal and external stakeholders, articulating investment philosophy, process, and results.
  • Partner closely with Portfolio Management, Product, Sales and Marketing to support business objectives.
  • Advocate for product enhancements and new ideas based on client needs and market opportunities.
  • Champion BMO’s investment capabilities, reinforcing credibility, consistency, and confidence in all interactions.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in asset management or capital markets, ideally in a Client Portfolio Manager, investment specialist, or portfolio management role.
  • CFA designation and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Strong understanding of investment strategies, portfolio construction, and performance analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting portfolio performance and risk.
  • Comfort working with analytical tools and complex market data.
  • Proven ability to communicate investment concepts clearly to retail audiences.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment.
  • Creative, collaborative self‑starter with strong business acumen.
  • Bilingual French–English is an asset.

Salary:

$78,400.00 - $144,900.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
