BlackRock's Investment & Portfolio Solutions (IPS) mission is to bring our clients investable market insights tied to product and portfolio solutions across the full range of public and private markets. We strive to drive commercial outcomes with actionable market views and portfolio insights to help build better portfolios. The portfolio consulting team is an investment team that specializes in building custom investment solutions using deep investment expertise, cutting-edge technology, and market insights. Consultants are client-facing technical professionals who work alongside distribution teams to lead engagements that diagnose client investment challenges and shape solutions. They partner closely with investment strategy, product, and portfolio management teams across the business to drive value in client relationships. The team covers institutional client segments such as asset managers, insurance companies, pensions, endowments, foundations, and family offices, as well as the retail advisory segment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partnering with the Sales team to integrate Portfolio Consulting as a key driver of whole-portfolio solutions for predominantly institutional clients.
  • Responding to client consulting requests by crafting robust portfolio analyses. Types of requests include, but are not limited to, returns-based style analysis, holdings-based risk factor analysis, stress testing evaluations, and tracking error optimizations.
  • Supporting client conference calls by delivering market knowledge and contributing to the construction of efficient and thoughtful investment solutions, with considerations for current economic conditions.
  • Partnering with teams across the firm to leverage best practices, expertise, and tools to enhance investment capabilities and create additional capacity.
  • Contributing to the development and execution of channel business strategy, including delivery of existing objectives and applying technology to build scale.
  • Supporting the prioritization of client engagements and internal initiatives under senior team guidance.
  • Contributing to presentations and investment papers that effectively communicate insights, strategies, and research to clients and stakeholders.
  • Continually expanding and deepening investment, portfolio construction, and product suite knowledge.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in investment management, portfolio analytics, financial services, or a related field.
  • BA/BS in finance, economics, or a related field; CFA designation or progress toward CFA is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex investment information clearly.
  • An understanding of ETFs, mutual funds, and other investment vehicles.
  • Knowledge of private markets and the role of alternatives in a portfolio.
  • Comfort with public speaking and client-facing presentation delivery.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to interpret complex investment product information and identify appropriate solutions for investment professionals.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required. Familiarity with industry software (Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, MPI, etc.) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and emerging technologies that can enhance research, analytics, and workflow efficiency, with an understanding of responsible use, governance, and quality control in an investment environment is a plus.
  • Collaborative individual with strong ethical values.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
