Job Description

About NextStep

NextStep connects top consulting talent with high-potential opportunities through smart, AI-powered matching. We partner with ambitious companies across sectors to place experienced professionals in roles where they can have a real impact. On behalf of a client in our partner network, we are looking for an Associate Product Manager.

About the Company

Our client is a B2B SaaS startup headquartered in London, building workflow automation tools for mid-market professional services firms. They are Series A-backed, growing fast, and at the stage where product decisions have direct, visible consequences on revenue and retention. The company is looking for someone who wants to learn the craft of product management in an environment that takes it seriously.

THE ROLE

As Associate Product Manager, you will work within a cross-functional team to define, build, and iterate on product features that solve real problems for real customers. You will support the Senior PM on discovery and delivery, own defined workstreams independently, and develop the habits and judgement of a strong product thinker over time. This is a role for someone earlier in their career who brings structured thinking, intellectual curiosity, and the drive to get things shipped.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support product discovery by conducting customer interviews, analysing usage data, and synthesising insights into clear problem statements and opportunity areas.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning by researching market trends, competitor behaviour, and customer feedback to help prioritise what gets built and why.
  • Write clear, well-structured product requirements and user stories that give engineering and design teams what they need to move quickly and confidently.
  • Own delivery coordination within the squad, tracking progress against sprint goals and flagging risks or blockers early.
  • Assist in defining and monitoring product metrics, contributing to a data-informed culture across the team.
  • Engage directly with customers and internal stakeholders to gather feedback, test assumptions, and validate solutions before and after release.
  • Contribute to post-release reviews and retrospectives, feeding learnings back into the product development process.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 1-3 years of experience in management consulting, strategy, or a business-facing role with exposure to product or technology teams.
  • Strong analytical and structured thinking skills, able to define a problem clearly before proposing a solution.
  • Genuine curiosity about how software products are built and how users interact with them.
  • Clear written communication; able to produce concise, well-reasoned documents that move teams forward.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and ambiguity is the norm.
  • Familiarity with product tools such as Jira, Notion, or Figma is a plus but not required.
  • A collaborative mindset and the humility to learn from engineers, designers, and customers in equal measure.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Base salary of £55,000 - £70,000, determined based on experience and scope.
  • Equity participation in a well-funded, early-stage business.
  • Additional benefits, including private health cover, pension, and leave entitlement, are detailed as part of the full offer package.
