What You'll Be Doing
The Associate will be responsible for managing and monitoring the project finance offerings, credit positions, derivative positions and all stages of the project development and funding requests as conditions to draw are met and verified.
How You'll Succeed
- Take over the daily and long-term ownership responsibility for a set of SF loans with the number of accounts depending on status and complexity of the transactions (i.e., Agency deals, projects under construction vs operating projects, watchlisted credits, etc)
- Support deal team leaders, as and when required by Management, in execution and monitoring process of complex transactions.
- Detailed monitoring of construction process incl review and coordination of monthly draws internally and externally
- Review and evaluation of Borrower Amendment/ Waiver/ Consent requests - preparation of accurate and well analyzed risk analysis/ conclusion within SF and coordination of Credit Application process with Risk Management
- Coordinate and execute legal documentation in conjunction with internal credit approval for Amendments etc
- Manage Term Conversions (conversion of construction loans to term loans, with tax equity investment), liaising with the bank's internal departments as necessary.
- Represent firms interest externally and internally through restructurings, in the event the need arises. For Agency Deals, support Agency Team in the Amendments process vis a vis syndicate, advisors and customer
- Internal administration -maintain the Credit Files and other IT systems as relevant, periodic review of KYC files, and other tasks related to deals in the portfolio,
- In coordination with Manager, respond to requests from internal and external Auditors and Bank Examiners
- Track on time delivery of Borrower's reporting obligations, coordinate review of Budgets, Op Reports, Financials, Risk Ratings etc with Risk Management
- Coordinate and support operational matters (including loan payoffs, syndication process) on designated loans.
- Support deal teams for refinancings or new transactions, the execution (including internal process and conduct necessary due diligence) and ensure appropriate closing of the transaction after closing.
- Support the PF&I team as necessary on onboarding new clients, preparation of marketing materials, and development of internal policies, rating models and other tools
- Assume dedicated responsibility for Head Office- related IT Projects, coordinate interface, trainings and guidance with Project Managers, Support Team and the Portfolio Managers.
Who You Are
- High energy individual with a long term orientation, with at least 3-5 years of experience in a project finance or asset based related portfolio management or credit function
- Requires strong work ethic, with attention to detail and creative problem-solving and excellent customer service/relationship skills
- Strong analytical skills with a proven history of successfully evaluating credit risk.
- Ability to understand, manipulate, and extract information from complex cash flow models.
- Ability to carefully read, analyze, and explain in reasonable detail, extensive legal documentation in complex structures.
- Team Player- ability to work in a dynamic team environment where priorities are shifting frequently.
- Ability to influence discussions and negotiations with other banks, advisors, and Borrowers.
- A Bachelor's degree is required with a focus in finance or economics. MBA or Engineering background is a plus.
- Excellent English language skills with solid technical writing skills (financial & risk assessments).

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $150,000-$185,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience,
