Description
The Birnbaum lab at NYU Biology is looking for a highly motivated individual to work as an Associate Research Scientist/Scholar Part Time Non-exempt for the summer. This position is based in New York City and the selected candidate will be expected to work onsite as of their effective start date.
This position is for a researcher with the B.A. or B.S. degree with experience in molecular biology and computational biology. The summer researcher will work on projects involving validation of computational models of cell identity specification in plants, focusing on Arabidopsis. Thus, the candidate will perform genetic analysis, microscopy, and other molecular biology techniques, such as cloning. In addition, the candidate will participate and assist in computational projects in the lab, such as network analysis and Alphafold analysis.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for the position is $18-20/hr with a maximum of 27 hrs per week. On an annual basis, salary range for this position is $28,080 to $31,200. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a B.S., or B.A. in biology, biotechnology, or related field, and have prior research experience using molecular biology techniques in plants.
