Role Description

This is an on‑location fresh out or early‑career crossover opportunity. You’ll work alongside experienced consultants and partners, learning structured research and sourcing the right way - not winging it.

The Associate Researcher will conduct market and candidate research to support executive search and contingent recruiting (i.e. Tall Trees Talent) assignments.

Responsibilities also include sourcing and evaluating candidates, collecting and analyzing industry trends, and generating detailed reports. The role will involve collaboration with senior recruiters to develop insights that help identify leadership talent in the energy sector.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting talent mapping and long‑list generation
  • Following structured research and sourcing workflows
  • Producing accurate candidate profile summaries
  • Maintaining clean, auditable CRM data
  • Identifying roadblocks early
  • Administering behavioral and cognitive assessments
  • Attending interviews in support of an assigned team of recruiters
  • Progressively increasing independence as competence is demonstrated

Who this role is for

We are specifically interested in people with 1 to 3 years exposure to:

  • Academic specialization in one of our sectors (energy, power & utilities, oil & gas, infrastructure, transportation, advanced manufacturing), or
  • In‑house talent acquisition or HR generalist experience, or
  • Industry experience in one of our sectors (energy, power & utilities, oil & gas, infrastructure, transportation, advanced manufacturing)

Qualifications

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with experience in data collection and market analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and independently meet deadlines.
  • Some familiarity with the energy industry, including knowledge of oil & gas, power & utilities, or alternative energy sectors, is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Energy or a related field preferred.
