About The Role
We're looking for a curious and driven AI & Automation Intern to join our Automation and AI team at Cinch. This internship is built for someone who wants to get hands-on with real AI workflows — not just theoretical exposure. You'll work alongside our engineers to build, connect, and automate systems that power our internal operations and product, using modern tools like Claude code, n8n and MCP servers.

Key Responsibilities
- Build AI Automation Workflows: Support the development and orchestration of backend workflows for AI-driven processes using tools like Claude code, n8n and MCP servers.
- Develop and Maintain Backend Services: Write clean, maintainable code in Python and/or Go to support internal APIs, data pipelines, and automation logic.
- Integrate External APIs and Systems: Help connect AI models, third-party services, and internal databases into unified, functional workflows.
- Set Up Monitoring & Logging: Assist in implementing observability tooling to track workflow performance, surface failures, and flag data quality issues.
- Support Data Handling Tasks: Participate in data ingestion, transformation, and validation work to ensure workflows run on clean, consistent inputs.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Team: Join daily standups, contribute to sprint tasks, and work under the guidance of senior engineers and the tech lead.
- Write and Maintain Documentation: Document developed workflows, APIs, and internal tooling to support team knowledge and scalability.
- Prototype and Explore: Research new libraries, models, or approaches that could improve our automation and AI orchestration capabilities.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with at least one backend programming language — Python or Go preferred.
- Basic understanding of APIs, data structures, and how systems connect.
- Some exposure to databases (SQL or NoSQL) and the concept of data pipelines is a plus.
- Genuine interest in AI/ML and eagerness to learn automation tools and workflow orchestration.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to pick things up quickly in a fast-moving environment.
- Good communicator and collaborative team player.
