Job Description

The Automation Engineer is developing or has developed proficiencies in some areas of the discipline, but is expanding their skill set under the guidance of more experienced engineers. This role will support the execution of all phases of design, including studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. The individual will demonstrate working knowledge of standard industry instrumentation and control system hardware, generate specifications and data sheets, and prepare schematics and plan drawings for control system fabrication and installation using computer‑aided drafting and engineering software.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABET‑accredited Bachelor’s degree in a discipline‑specific degree (ARE, ChemE, ME or EE)
  • 0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam registration or completion

Additional Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Fundamental experience with instrumentation and controls engineering calculations and designing instrumentation and control system designs
  • Fundamental experience with the electrical code
  • Ability to interface with clients and external partners
  • Fundamental experience conducting field surveys of existing conditions and supporting field reporting
  • Proficient with fundamental internal cross‑discipline project team coordination
  • Proficient at fundamental discipline design calculations under the supervision of an engineer

Responsibilities

  • Work may include all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Work on matters of fundamental and basic complexity in a support role under the direction of more experienced Lead/Sr. Instrument & Control System Engineer.
  • This role is expected to self‑check one’s own work.
  • May work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor.
