Overview
Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) fosters a high‑performance, collaborative culture and hires leaders who combine analytical excellence with strategic insight. This role sits within the Global FP&A team and serves as a senior thought partner to executive leadership, supporting enterprise‑level decision‑making through forward‑looking analysis, deal evaluation, and compelling financial storytelling.
The AVP, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for developing and delivering high‑impact financial insights across financial planning, new business and transaction analysis, and long‑term value creation initiatives. This role plays a critical role in evaluating new deals, sidecar structures, and capital deployment opportunities, translating complex economics into clear executive‑level narratives.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Reporting & Forecasting
- Lead development of forward‑looking financial analyses that support enterprise strategy, capital allocation, and long‑term value creation.
- Lead quarterly management reporting and narrative development, connecting results and outlook to the enterprise strategy and investor messaging.
- Ensure leadership materials are crisp and decision‑oriented, using strong visualization and storyline structure in PowerPoint.
- Lead driver‑based forecasting—building and refining models that quantify how key business drivers affect the forward outlook and “run‑rate” trajectory (including impacts to underlying run‑rate dynamics where relevant).
- Lead creation of plan reporting package and related performance views, ensuring a clear line of sight from plan inputs to expected outcomes and risks.
- Establish a consistent “management view” of plan results (drivers, sensitivities, and implications) and deliver materials in a format suitable for executive forums.
Deal, Transaction & Sidecar Economics
- Evaluate and report the financial and economic impact of new business opportunities, including reinsurance transactions, new deals, and sidecar structures.
- Develop robust deal models and investment analyses, including returns, sensitivities, and downside scenarios.
Executive Storytelling & Communication
- Translate complex financial and actuarial concepts into clear, compelling insights for Executive Committee and Board audiences.
- Lead development of high‑quality PowerPoint materials that combine analytics, visualization, and narrative to drive decision‑making.
- Elevate the quality, consistency, and strategic focus of management and Board‑level financial discussions.
Advanced Analytics, Automation & Insight
- Leverage financial systems, automation, and advanced analytics to enhance the quality, speed, and scalability of FP&A outputs.
Candidate Requisites
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, strategic finance, or financial modeling.
- Deep expertise in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and executive‑level communication.
- Proven ability to synthesize data into actionable insights and clear strategic recommendations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑ready presentation development.
Preferred
- Advanced credentials are assets; e.g., actuarial designation (ASA, FSA) or actuarial background strongly preferred, and/or CPA, CFA.
- Experience in insurance, reinsurance, financial services, or capital‑intensive industries.
- Experience evaluating transactions, structured reinsurance, sidecars, or investment‑linked products.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and data visualization; comfort working across finance and actuarial disciplines.
- People management experience in a complex, matrixed global organization is an asset.
