Position: Business Intelligence Analyst (1 Year Contract)

The Business Intelligence Analyst will support the Business Intelligence function to deliver high‑quality reporting, analysis, and insight that enables data‑led decision making across the business. This role is a fixed‑term maternity cover and is suited to someone who is hands‑on, commercially minded, and excited to grow their BI skill set in a fast‑paced, PE‑backed environment.
You will work closely with finance, commercial, and operational teams to maintain and enhance core reporting, build dashboards, and turn complex data into clear, actionable insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the BI roadmap by maintaining and enhancing reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions that align with business priorities and growth objectives.
- Design, implement, and maintain data models and reporting frameworks across financial, commercial, and operational performance, with guidance from senior stakeholders.
- Build and maintain dashboards and data visualisations (e.g., in ThoughtSpot, Power BI) to make data more accessible and user‑friendly across the business.
- Deliver financial and performance analysis to support forecasting, revenue planning, margin reviews, and ad‑hoc commercial questions.
- Work with finance, commercial, and operational teams to translate business questions into structured analyses and clear, decision‑ready insight.
- Contribute to data governance and quality by following agreed standards, documenting definitions, and helping to maintain consistency across key reports and metrics.
- Help drive automation and process improvement across reporting and data workflows, including data transformation and modelling using tools such as Power Query or equivalent technologies.
- Manage your own workload and priorities, communicating timelines, risks, and data issues clearly to stakeholders and escalating where appropriate.
- Collaborate with external partners and consultants (where relevant) to support delivery of BI projects and enhancements.
Required Skills And Experience
- Commercial BI / analytics experience in a revenue‑focused or performance‑driven environment (e.g., finance, commercial analytics, FP&A, marketing/trading analytics).
- Experience building and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data models, ideally across financial and/or commercial performance.
- Good financial analysis skills, with comfort working with revenue, margin, and performance drivers.
- Experience working with large, multi‑source datasets and transforming them into clear, meaningful insight.
- Hands‑on experience with data visualisation and self‑serve analytics tools (e.g., ThoughtSpot, Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction, validation, and basic analysis.
- Strong Excel / spreadsheet skills, including data modelling, use of advanced formulas, and performance optimisation for larger datasets.
- Experience using data transformation tools such as Power Query (or equivalent ETL / data preparation tools) is highly desirable.
- Experience integrating and working with data from multiple operational and financial systems.
- Evidence of improving reporting processes through automation or tooling (e.g., streamlining manual reports, standardising templates, or improving data flows).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data and analysis to non‑technical audiences.
- Experience managing your own projects or workstreams in a growing or fast‑paced business environment.
- High attention to detail, strong focus on data accuracy, and a structured, analytical problem‑solving approach.
Pay Transparency
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Ontario, MiQ is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to Ontario and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $60,000- $70,000. This range does not take into account our bonus and commission structures.
