Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst Overview
As a BI Analyst, you will be essential in analyzing and interpreting data to deliver actionable insights that steer strategic decision-making. Your main responsibility will involve crafting and maintaining data visualizations, reports, and dashboards using Power BI. You will collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to capture business requirements, design BI solutions, and deliver impactful data-driven outcomes.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Work closely with business users to identify, analyze, and document key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI.
- Gather and transform data from multiple sources into a structured format for thorough analysis.
- Create and maintain data models for efficient and accurate reporting.
- Implement calculations, measures, and custom visuals in Power BI to accommodate complex reporting requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of data within BI solutions.
- Provide training and support to end-users for optimizing Power BI usage.
- Collaborate with IT departments to guarantee data security, integrity, and adherence to governance policies.
- Stay current with the latest trends in BI and analytics tools, techniques, and best practices.
Desired Experience and Technical Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a BI Analyst or in a similar role.
- Strong skills in Power BI, focusing on creating complex visualizations, measures, and DAX calculations.
- Proficiency in Power Query and writing M-code.
- Solid understanding of data visualization principles and best practices.
- Experience with data modeling concepts and large datasets consisting of various data types.
- Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation languages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for interpreting complex datasets.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork with cross-functional teams.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with data integration and ETL processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery).
- Understanding of data governance principles and practices.
- Familiarity with advanced Power BI features such as Field Parameters, Calculation Groups, and Row-Level Security.
- Experience with advanced Power Query concepts like data sourcing via Restful web APIs and performance optimization.
