TITLE: Business Intelligence Developer
LOCATION: Denver, CO (Hybrid)
Advanced SQL, Tableau, ETL, data warehousing, data modeling, medallion architecture, data visualization, Excel, JSON/XML, and experience with Python/R or cloud platforms (Snowflake, Azure, AWS) preferred.
OVERVIEW
The Business Intelligence Developer will help design and deliver end-to-end analytics solutions that empower decision-making across Operations and IT. This is an exciting opportunity to work with large, diverse datasets and transform raw information into actionable insights. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technologist with a strong grasp of data modeling, visualization, and business analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Model raw data into structured datasets using the medallion architecture for scalable analytics.
- Write, validate, and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data for reporting purposes.
- Design and build interactive dashboards and data visualizations in Tableau using best practices for speed-to-insight and usability.
- Apply information design principles to improve clarity, engagement, and impact of dashboards and reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and performance drivers - present findings to stakeholders with clear recommendations.
- Build automated data pipelines and reporting processes to reduce manual effort and ensure data accuracy.
- Maintain and enhance data warehouse solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and data quality.
- Support ad hoc and exploratory data needs from Operations and IT teams using tools like SQL, Tableau, and Excel.
- Uphold data governance and stewardship best practices, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance in all BI work.
- Document processes, data sources, and logic to enable collaboration and future enhancements.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 2-5 years of experience in a Business Intelligence, Data Analyst, or Data Engineering role.
- Proficient in data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL processes.
- Advanced SQL skills with the ability to work with large, complex datasets.
- Demonstrated experience building advanced dashboards and visualizations in Tableau.
- Strong understanding of data visualization principles and user-centered design.
- Familiarity with medallion architecture or similar modern data architecture frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Experience working with both structured and semi-structured data (e.g., JSON, XML).
- Ability to work independently and validate complex data logic with minimal oversight.
- Understanding of data stewardship and governance practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for lightweight analysis and ad hoc data exploration.
- Experience with scripting (e.g., Python, R) or cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS) is a plus.
