Job Description

  • Assist in catastrophe modelling and related risk analytics work, including exposure data preparation, model runs, and results review.
  • Clean, validate, and process exposure and loss data according to internal data standards and model specifications.
  • Maintain and enhance internal exposure and loss databases; support data storage and documentation.
  • Perform regular portfolio monitoring and reporting (e.g., accumulation, PML/EP metrics, pre- and post-reinsurance views) as requested by management and other stakeholders.
  • Provide modelling output and insights to underwriters and other business users; help explain technical results to non-technical audiences.
  • Conduct research on industry and academic publications to support analysis, assumptions, and reporting.
  • Maintain and update modelling tools, templates, and workflows to improve efficiency; support ad hoc analytics and projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Natural Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in (re)insurance analytics, catastrophe risk, exposure management, actuarial/portfolio analytics, or similar fields.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with careful attention to data quality and detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and VBA.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks with good execution.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
  • Preferred Requirements
  • Experience with catastrophe modelling platforms and/or GIS tools is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SQL/SQL Server and R.
  • Exposure to dynamic financial analysis tools or related analytical tooling.
  • Knowledge of the non-life reinsurance market and operation.
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered for the Junior Catastrophe Risk Analyst.
