Job Description

Our client, a prominent player in the specialty chemicals sector, is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Process Development Engineer to join their innovative team in Miami, Florida . This role is central to advancing our product pipeline, focusing on the scale-up and optimization of new chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial scales. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles, hands-on experience with process development, and a deep understanding of reaction engineering, separation technologies, and process safety. You will be responsible for designing and executing experiments, analyzing data, and developing robust process models to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing. Key responsibilities include translating bench-scale findings into viable pilot-plant operations, troubleshooting process challenges, and optimizing existing production methods. You will work closely with R&D chemists, engineers, and plant personnel, providing technical expertise and leadership throughout the development lifecycle. Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus) and familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are highly desirable. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective communication abilities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge chemical products and processes in a dynamic industrial environment.

Responsibilities: Develop and optimize chemical processes for new product introductions and existing product improvements. Design and execute laboratory and pilot-scale experiments to gather process data. Analyze experimental results and develop robust process models and simulations. Scale-up chemical processes from laboratory bench to pilot plant and commercial production. Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges encountered during process development and scale-up. Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). Specify equipment and materials for pilot and production facilities. Ensure all process development activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Collaborate effectively with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams. Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to project stakeholders. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or chemical engineering in an industrial setting. Strong understanding of chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and transport phenomena. Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus). Familiarity with separation techniques and unit operations. Knowledge of process safety principles and hazard analysis. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in the specialty chemicals industry is a plus.
