Our client, a major player in the petrochemical industry, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemical Process Engineer to join their plant operations team in **Miami, Florida, US**. This role is critical for optimizing chemical processes, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, process simulation, and troubleshooting in a large-scale manufacturing environment. This position requires hands-on involvement with plant operations.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to improve yield, efficiency, and product quality. Monitor plant operations, analyze process data, and identify opportunities for improvement. Conduct process simulations and modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Troubleshoot process issues, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process safety management (PSM) protocols. Participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs) and risk assessments. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and R&D teams to implement process changes and upgrades. Design and commission new equipment or modifications to existing process units. Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and economic evaluations for process improvements. Train operations personnel on new processes or equipment. Stay current with advancements in chemical engineering and petrochemical technologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering within the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mass transfer. Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, PRO/II). Experience with P&ID development, HAZOP studies, and PSM requirements. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong understanding of process control systems and instrumentation. Ability to work effectively in a plant environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable manufacturing practices is a plus. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
