About the Opportunity

Brown & Haley is a fully integrated consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturer with more than 100 years of history in the confectionery industry. As we continue to evolve and modernize our operations, we are seeking a strategic, hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial organization through a critical period of growth and transformation.

This role is ideal for a forward-thinking finance leader who thrives in operational environments and is excited to help guide a well-established manufacturing company into its next chapter. The CFO will play a key leadership role in organizational transition initiatives, process modernization, and a future ERP transformation expected within the next 3–5 years.

The successful candidate will oversee the financial health of a complex operation that includes manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, global sales, and marketing.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Support

  • Partner closely with executive leadership to support organizational transition efforts while maintaining financial stability and operational continuity.
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic insights to support pricing strategy, trade spend optimization, margin improvement, and SKU profitability.
  • Lead and develop the U.S.-based finance organization, including accounting and credit functions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors on financial planning and business strategy.

ERP & Financial Systems Transformation

  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s legacy AS400 (IBM i) ERP environment and identify opportunities for process improvement and modernization.
  • Evaluate, simplify, and optimize current financial workflows and reporting structures.
  • Support future ERP selection, implementation planning, and migration efforts while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

Manufacturing & Operational Finance

  • Oversee cost accounting functions across manufacturing, maintenance, sanitation, warehousing, and distribution operations.
  • Drive operational efficiencies through financial analysis and performance monitoring.
  • Lead capital expenditure (CapEx) planning and reporting related to automation, production equipment, and facility improvements.
  • Monitor inventory valuation, supply chain costs, and operational spending in a dynamic CPG environment.

Financial Management & Compliance

  • Direct all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and cash management functions.
  • Partner with operations leadership on labor cost modeling, compensation planning, and benefits-related financial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, internal controls, and risk management standards.
  • Coordinate audits, tax reporting, and financial reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably within CPG, food, beverage, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong operational finance background with experience supporting manufacturing and supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through organizational change and build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred.
  • Experience leading at least one full-cycle ERP implementation (SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms).
  • Previous experience within the food and beverage or confectionery industry.
  • Mandarin language skills are a plus.
