Our client, a leading innovator in advanced manufacturing, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Chief Manufacturing Engineer to lead their production engineering efforts. This role is critical to ensuring the efficiency, quality, and scalability of our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of modern manufacturing techniques, automation, and continuous improvement methodologies. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing engineering, from process design and optimization to implementation and maintenance, driving operational excellence in our state-of-the-art facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the manufacturing engineering department, providing technical guidance and strategic direction for all production-related engineering activities. Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and automation systems. Develop and manage production test plans and quality control procedures to ensure product reliability and adherence to specifications. Collaborate closely with R&D, product design, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability of new products. Implement and champion continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma, to drive operational excellence. Develop and manage the manufacturing engineering budget, including capital expenditure planning. Mentor and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation and technical expertise. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001). Troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues and implement effective root cause analysis and corrective actions. Stay abreast of emerging manufacturing technologies and assess their applicability to the company's operations. Qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, with a significant portion in a leadership or supervisory role. Extensive experience in process design, optimization, automation, and tooling for complex manufactured goods. Proven track record of successfully implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving significant operational improvements. Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software, simulation tools, and data analysis techniques. Demonstrated experience managing budgets and leading engineering teams. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. Exceptional communication, collaboration, and project management abilities. Experience with quality management systems and regulatory compliance. Commitment to safety and a proactive approach to risk management.
