Job Overview

The Claims & Workers Comp. Risk Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive claim advocacy, handling, and oversight for all client losses across various lines of coverage, including General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Professional Liability, Premises Liability, and Automobile (including Hired Non-Owned or HNOA). This role ensures complete, sound investigations, timely resolutions, and effective communication with clients and carrier adjusters.

Duties :

  • Manage detailed incident investigations, loss mitigation, and the timely resolution of a variety of claims.
  • Secure and analyze necessary information (e.g., police reports, policies, releases, statements, records) during investigations.
  • Assist in resolving claims, complaints, and disputes, including participation in arbitrations and mediations as needed.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and payment of claims within client self-insured retentions (SIR).
  • Administer email and phone communications with clients, responding promptly to inquiries and claim status updates.
  • Serve as the primary claims contact for clients, addressing complex claims situations with carrier adjusters.
  • Analyze complex claims/risk information to develop creative and timely problem-solving solutions.
  • Facilitate the delivery of relevant documentation regarding work-related injuries to carrier adjusters to assist in determining compensability, recordability, and OSHA reporting requirements.
  • Report losses to carriers as required.
  • Inform Producers/Account Managers and clients on claim status, settlements, and reserve changes.
  • Update claims and risk information in Origami accurately and timely.
  • Prepare reports on loss data, open claim summaries, and other required documentation.
  • Attend loss review meetings with clients and/or insurance agency Producers.
  • Review claims with higher value reserves and settlements with clients and Producers to collaborate on appropriate handling and resolution strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, carrier partners, internal business partners, and external service providers.
  • Communicate effectively with plaintiff attorneys, carrier legal counsel, and other experts.
  • Maintaining updated contact lists and managing initial claim intake.
  • Administer claims protocols and communicate unusual loss trends to the Safety & Security department.
  • Track open claims, ensuring timely closure and client awareness of claim status.
  • Participate in creating Stewardship Reports for client review.
  • Conduct client review presentations and maintain an understanding of client claims trends.
  • Provide oversight through file reviews, task monitoring, and guidance to the Risk Management team.

Experience

  • Active Adjusters License (preferred)
  • Claims adjustment and handling experience, including Self-Insured Retentions (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective negotiation and time management skills
  • Strong understanding of the litigation process
  • Experience working with insurance policies
  • Solid research skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Adaptability to change
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and team player mentality
