Title: Coating Engineer (Thermal Spray / Industrial Coatings)
Location: Greater Houston Area (Onsite)
We’re working with a highly specialized industrial manufacturer and service provider supporting critical rotating equipment and high-temperature components across the energy and heavy industrial sectors.
This team is investing heavily in expanding its in-house coating capabilities—and is looking for a Coating Engineer to take ownership of processes, equipment, and production readiness across thermal spray and advanced coating applications.
This is a hands-on, build-and-optimize role. Not a maintenance seat.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the onboarding, commissioning, and ramp-up of coating equipment (HVOF, plasma, thermal spray, etc.)
- Develop and optimize coating procedures, parameters, and work instructions
- Own production readiness from initial setup through repeatable execution
- Design or improve fixtures, tooling, and handling methods for coating processes
- Partner closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering to ensure consistency and performance
- Support pre-coat prep and post-coat processes, including surface prep, finishing, and inspection
- Interface with customers on technical requirements, specifications, and performance expectations
What They’re Looking For
- Experience with thermal spray coatings (HVOF, HVAF, plasma, or similar)
- Strong understanding of coating processes, equipment, and materials behavior
- Background in industrial, manufacturing, or repair environments (not lab-only)
- Ability to translate process knowledge into standardized work and scalable production
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, shop-integrated environment
Why This Role
- Major investment in coating capabilities and equipment expansion
- Opportunity to own and shape the coating function, not just support it
- Work on high-value, high-performance components in demanding applications
