Competitive Intelligence Contractor

Job Description

Why now: Competitive pressure is landing in the field daily. Pricing pressure, narrative attacks, feature claims, and fast product iteration are creating episodic fire drills. We have strength in analytics and distribution surfaces. The missing piece is a durable, differentiated corpus of firsthand competitive assets that only our company can create, maintained at speed and quality.

What we are building: A curated “golden competitive knowledge” of proprietary comparative observations, tests, and POV content. This content becomes the foundation for consistently better briefs, better competitive plays, stronger product theorizing, and eventually more powerful agent and model-assisted outputs because they can rely on high-quality, OpenAI generated competitive data instead of generic external sources.

What We Need Contractors To Do (core Outcomes)

  • Durable assets: Maintain a small set of canonical, reusable assets that stay current, including product spotlights with evidence-backed comparisons, head-to-head deltas, and recurring scenario response plans. (particularly needed now as we’re getting started)
  • Rapid response (24-hour SLA): For priority launches and escalations, ship an executive-grade brief within 24 hours: what changed, why it matters, recommended actions, what GTM should say, product implications, and linked supporting evidence. (provide airtime to build scaled competitive system)
  • Activation and usefulness: Ensure assets are consumed in real workflows. Gather feedback, iterate, and prove adoption with clear usage signals across GTM and product.

Operating model: single intake, single backlog, weekly review, explicit escalation lane. Monitoring and triage are upstream, contractors operate on the downstream execution end: assets, rapid response, activation.

Qualifications

  • MBA or equivalent post-grad, deeply AI-native
  • AI-native competitive builder: Deep fluency across modern AI stacks and buyer dynamics, independently forms sharp POV, separates signal from noise, produces OpenAI-owned comparative evidence, not recycled external takes.
  • Speed with rigor: Ships daily, meets a 24-hour rapid-response SLA, writes exec-grade, backs claims with traceable evidence, clear assumptions, and consistent frameworks. Has run daily or weekly intel rhythms, can handle real-time updates and 24-hour rapid response under ambiguity.
  • Activation instinct: Understands GTM and product workflows, translates findings into usable plays and assets, drives adoption via feedback loops, iterates until outputs are measurably used.
  • AI Experience in competitive intelligence, product strategy, management consulting, corporate strategy, or GTM strategy, with a track record of shipping decision-grade insights fast.
  • Enterprise exposure: Direct work on AI products, platforms, or deployments, understands governance, security, procurement, and rollout realities.

What Success Looks Like

  • Speed: 24-hour SLA consistently met meaningful outputs shipped in the first two weeks.
  • Depth and precision: Assets are evidence-backed and materially higher quality than best-effort outputs, with clear deltas and recommended plays.
  • Adoption and impact: Outputs are repeatedly used in deals, enablement, leadership readouts, and product decisions. Fewer fire drills and fewer competitive gaps felt by the field.
