We are seeking a Competitive Intelligence Lead to enhance our competitive insights and drive strategic initiatives. This role will be instrumental in delivering high-quality business and competitive intelligence while collaborating with various departments, including Client Development and Research Services.
The Competitive Intelligence (CI) team is crucial for advancing both attorney-specific and firm-wide initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Competitive Intelligence Manager, this position will engage with CI colleagues and stakeholders to effectively execute the CI function, ensuring that our intelligence supports strategic business decisions aimed at business development, profitability, growth, and client retention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, Analysis & Insight Development: Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of individuals, companies, industries, and competitors to extract actionable insights. Prepare strategic client profiles for meetings, pitches, RFPs, and other initiatives.
- Identify trends to support client development and new business activities.
- Utilize extensive legal and business research resources across various practice areas.
- Demonstrate proficiency in analyzing litigation dockets, regulatory matters, and financial performance metrics.
Strategic Intelligence Development:
- Monitor the competitive legal landscape and emerging trends to provide proactive business insights.
- Assist in generating reports on cross-marketing opportunities and evaluate our competitive positioning in various markets.
- Synthesize complex financial data to present clear, strategic insights.
Client Development Support:
- Support client development efforts by conducting market research and preparing targeted lists and reports.
- Analyze research request data to assess demand and identify trends within the firm’s intelligence needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in competitive intelligence or business research, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.
- Proven track record of managing research projects and delivering strategic insights.
Essential Skills:
- Exceptional research and analytical abilities to synthesize information into actionable intelligence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver findings clearly and concisely.
- Excellent project management skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in business intelligence databases and research platforms such as Westlaw, Lexis, Lex Machina, and Bloomberg Law.
- Proficiency with CRM systems including InterAction.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of legal industry resources and databases.
