Description

Compliance Oversight Officer

Salary: $165,000 - $175,000 /annually

Remote with up to 25% travel

Time Sensitive

The Vander Weele Group seeks a Compliance Oversight Officer with a legal and management background to oversee a highly sensitive compliance program involving social services. Our ideal candidate comes from a highly regulated industry and, because of this background, possesses an unrelenting attention to detail, confidentiality, accuracy, objectivity, and thoroughness. The program requires the production of a large number of reports able to withstand Congressional, media, and legal scrutiny.

The Vander Weele Group is a leading provider of oversight solutions for government-funded programs. We use deep domain expertise to build oversight functions that streamline processes, optimize training, and improve transparency to deliver high-quality work. We seek a Compliance Oversight Manager/Project Director with a background in civil litigation or a related field to oversee a large number of high-priority compliance inspections and reports. This role would manage a team of 15 to 20 individuals tasked with performing rigorous inspection deliverables.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means transforming inspection data into litigation-ready reports. Within the first 12 months, you will:

  • Ensure 100% evidentiary integrity by refining review protocols so that every finding is supported by clear, defensible evidence aligned with agency standards, GAGAS, and QSI&E (Blue Book) standards.
  • Eliminate reporting vulnerabilities by applying a litigation-informed lens to all documentation, ensuring it is prepared to survive administrative, political, or legal challenges.
  • Reduce remediation cycles by standardizing interview methodologies and documentation standards, catching evidentiary gaps early in the process.
  • Synthesize complex data into high-level risk insight reports that provide leadership with actionable recommendations for program improvement.

You’ll Own

  • The Technical Vetting Process: Leading the review and validation of inspection reports to ensure absolute adherence to federal requirements.
  • Identifying inconsistencies and areas of risk across inspection activities and providing decisive guidance for corrective action.
  • Overseeing the resolution of any deficient deliverables to ensure they are corrected accurately and within project timelines.
  • Coaching inspection teams on maintaining a high standard of compliance and evidentiary proof.

Requirements

You’ll Thrive Here If:

  • You have experience as a civil litigator or legal project manager and a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field; a Master’s degree, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) is preferred.
  • You have a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in high-level compliance, legal review, or federal oversight.
  • You don't just see a report; you see a record that must be defended.
  • You are an expert technical writer. You have a proven ability to turn raw data into persuasive, fact-based narratives.
  • You are organized and strong at managing people and are willing to engage in continuous feedback, both providing and receiving feedback, focused on excellent work product.
  • You value integrity and mission, but are able to document facts without bias or preconceptions. You are committed to meaningful oversight that supports the excellence of federal programs.
  • You have proven expertise in managing quality control for compliance reports, performance audits or inspections, preferably under GAGAS and QSI&E (Blue Book) standards.
  • You have an advanced ability to identify evidentiary gaps and synthesize raw data into fact-based, persuasive narratives.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • You must be able to successfully pass a Tier 2/Moderate Risk public trust fitness screening.

This position is contingent upon future contract awards
