JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is hiring an Electrical Engineer on behalf of a leading space exploration company, focused on power distribution/construction in Bastrop, TX. This is a full-time, permanent role with competitive salary, equity, and benefits. In this role, the Electrical Engineer will work collaboratively to design, build, and activate infrastructure at a massive campus in Bastrop, in addition to facilities improvements and large capital projects. To be successful in this role, it is imperative for candidates to have experience in a high-ownership environment, managing projects from start to finish. Responsibilities:

  • Lead project team through entire engineering process, including procurement, construction, and commissioning
  • Perform full lifecycle engineers tasks for a variety of critical projects on a tight timeline
  • Develop and issues drawings, designs, documentation, and reports for industrial, aerospace, and commercial projects
  • Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors
  • De-escalate and resolve ad hoc design and construction conflicts
  • Coordinate with relevant electrical utilities provider(s) to ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructure
  • Ensure all equipment interfaces properly with other mechanical/electrical systems, including compatibility with facility power budgets
  • Ensure all electrical designs and installations conform to applicable codes and regulations
  • Provide code review and analysis utilizing NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, Vol 5 & 6 AFSPCMAN 91-710, and IBC

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar electrical engineering technology
  • 6+ years of experience with designing and building commercial/industrial power systems
  • 8+ years of years of professional experience in a similar role with electrical and power distribution systems (<600Vac)
  • Working knowledge of delta/wye transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, building lighting, building construction specifications, and facility grounding
  • Experience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches
  • AutoCAD/Revil expertise
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code, National Fire Protection Association, and International Building Code
  • Ability to read and understand power and control schematics and technical equipment operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals
  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), industrial pumps, MODBUS communication, medium-voltage distribution and control panel design and production
  • Working knowledge of power coordination and arc flash

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license Additional physical requirements:
  • Physical ability to perform hands-on work in various environments, including heat, cold, rain, and tight quarters
  • Ability to work onsite at our Bastrop, TX facility (Remote work not considered)
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
