We are expanding our AI Search engineering group to reimagine how modern search infrastructure can serve both traditional research workflows and emerging generative AI capabilities. The Opportunity

You will help design and deliver the next generation of a large scale, Solr powered search ecosystem that supports a digital workspace used by professionals who influence public policy and regulatory outcomes.

This initiative will unify and modernize search capabilities across products, enabling:

• A flexible search application that seamlessly supports natural language queries alongside advanced Boolean search.
• A resilient, high throughput data processing architecture built for reliability, observability, and scale.
• Robust domain driven data models that balance application needs with long term platform evolution.
• Indexing and retrieval strategies for emerging content types, including user generated and dynamic data sources.
• Search infrastructure that powers both traditional web experiences and AI driven tools.

You will work with a corpus exceeding one billion documents, applying modern information retrieval techniques, cloud native architecture, and machine learning driven enhancements to deliver highly relevant results with exceptional performance.

What You Will Do

• Architect and implement distributed search systems designed for scale, reliability, and extensibility.
• Lead technical design from concept through production deployment, taking full ownership of outcomes.
• Collaborate across engineering and product teams to translate complex user needs into elegant technical solutions.
• Improve indexing pipelines, relevance tuning, and query processing to deliver measurable gains in performance and quality.
• Contribute to platform level decisions that shape long term search and AI strategy.

What You Bring

• Five or more years of professional experience building production systems in Java.
• Demonstrated expertise designing and operating scalable distributed systems.
• Strong analytical thinking and the ability to quickly understand complex technical domains.
• Experience with search technologies such as Solr or similar platforms.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
