As we aim to accelerate growth in Canada, we are actively seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to support our growth.
Role Overview
The Continuous Improvement Engineer plays a critical role in driving operational excellence across a third‑party logistics (3PL) site. This position partners closely with Operations, Engineering, IT, and leadership teams to identify improvement opportunities, reduce waste, enhance service performance, and embed a culture of continuous improvement across warehouse and transportation operations.
The role requires strong analytical capability, hands‑on process engineering experience, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels in a fast‑paced, 24×7 logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies.
- Identify, analyze, and improve end‑to‑end logistics processes including receiving, put‑away, picking, packing, shipping, cross‑dock, and transportation flows.
- Facilitate value stream mapping, time studies, root cause analysis (RCA), and Kaizen events across multiple sites.
- Standardize best practices across facilities while balancing client‑specific requirements.
Data Analysis & Performance Management
- Analyze operational KPIs (productivity, cost, quality, service, safety) to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and business cases to quantify benefits (cost savings, service improvement, capacity gains).
- Track benefits realization and sustainability of implemented initiatives.
Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with site leadership and frontline teams to implement process changes with minimal disruption to operations.
- Provide hands‑on coaching to supervisors and managers on CI tools and problem‑solving techniques.
- Support adoption of new processes, systems, and technologies through structured change management.
Systems, Technology & Innovation
- Collaborate with IT and Engineering on WMS, TMS, LMS, and automation initiatives.
- Support system implementations, process design, and go‑live stabilization from an operational excellence perspective.
- Explore and evaluate emerging technologies and best practices applicable to 3PL operations.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure process improvements align with Ontario Health & Safety (OHSA), Employment Standards Act (ESA), and company policies.
- Embed safety, ergonomics, and quality considerations into all process designs.
- Support audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement related to safety and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
- 3–7+ years of continuous improvement, industrial engineering, or operations excellence experience in logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or distribution.
- Strong working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
- Experience supporting large, labor‑intensive operations (high‑volume, multi‑shift, or 24×7 environments).
- Advanced data analysis skills (Excel required; Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Python an asset).
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence without authority.
Preferred / Asset Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience in a national or multi‑site 3PL or supply chain environment.
- Hands‑on experience with WMS, TMS, or labor management systems.
- Experience supporting automation, robotics, or warehouse layout/design projects.
- Familiarity with Canadian occupational health & safety regulations and labor standards.
