Job Description

The Controls Engineer will support the development, enhancement, and optimization of PLC-based control systems for commercial and custom industrial platforms. This role partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams to deliver reliable, energy-efficient control solutions across existing and next-generation products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain PLC control architectures
  • Manage version control and change management for PLC programs
  • Track controls-related projects using a project management platform and communicate priorities and status across teams
  • Code, test, and validate PLC and embedded control software
  • Implement load-matching, capacity control, and energy-optimization strategies (e.g., VFD modulation, condenser optimization, evaporator superheat control)
  • Participate hands-on in manufacturing, testing, and debugging
  • Integrate field devices including temperature, pressure, flow, and humidity sensors; EEVs; VFDs; expansion valves; and motor controllers
  • Review and develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts, I/O assignments, and P&IDs
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for control or system failures and drive corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including functional specifications, I/O lists, flow diagrams, network diagrams, and user manuals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Proficiency in PLC programming using Functional Block Diagrams, Structured Text, and Ladder Logic
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in PLC and controls engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Salary Range: $100,000-$125,000
