Overview

One of the top e-commerce powerhouse companies is looking for a Systems Engineer to join their Seattle, WA team!

Our client is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to support the design, deployment, and optimization of industrial controls systems for complex robotics workcells. This role supports highly innovative robotics and automation initiatives that directly impact scalability, reliability, and operational excellence across Amazon’s deployment footprint.

Contract Duration: 2-Month Contract with the opportunity for extension or conversion

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5–7 years of experience developing and deploying controls systems in industrial automation or robotics environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PLC and HMI development, including integration of drives, sensors, and peripheral devices.
  • Proficiency in multiple IEC 61131-3 programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of industrial networking and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with complex robotics workcells, including safety systems and host system integration.

What You Will Be Doing

Daily Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain industrial controls systems for advanced robotics workcells, including PLC and HMI applications.
  • Integrate and configure hardware components such as servo drives, barcode readers, safety systems, and remote sensors.
  • Develop and deploy features that improve system throughput, availability, quality, and scalability across large deployment bases.
  • Support automated conditioning, auto-recovery from system errors, and ongoing code refactoring initiatives.
  • Commission and deploy robotics workcells, following best practices for installation, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with engineers across the organization while maintaining the ability to work independently on assigned deliverables.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to industrial networks, including EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, and Profinet.
  • Own and maintain technical documentation for internal teams and partner commissioning and support teams.
  • Develop and evaluate performance metrics to assess machine and system effectiveness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts aligned with Amazon leadership principles, including Deliver Results and Learn and Be Curious.
