Controls Engineer (PLC / Automation)

Onsite Role | NO TRAVEL

Overview

Join a tight-knit engineering team building advanced cooling systems used in cutting-edge technologies like electron optics, MRI, x-ray, and medical devices. This is a hands-on role in a collaborative, down-to-earth environment where you can grow long-term and make a direct impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain PLC control architectures for chiller systems
  • Manage version control and change management for PLC programs
  • Partner with design engineers on new product configurations
  • Code, test, and validate PLC/embedded software (Carel platform)
  • Implement control strategies (VFDs, load matching, energy optimization)
  • Work hands-on with manufacturing, testing, and debugging
  • Integrate sensors, valves, motor controllers, and control components
  • Perform PID tuning and system performance testing
  • Support BMS integration (Modbus, BACnet, CAN, etc.)
  • Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions
  • Create technical documentation (I/O lists, diagrams, manuals)

What You Bring

  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial controls
  • Strong understanding of HVAC/refrigeration or fluid systems (preferred)
  • Experience with communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, etc.)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering + production teams
  • Hands-on mindset with strong troubleshooting skills
