Control System Engineer

Warminster, PA (Onsite)

Pay: $40–$50/hr (Contract) | $75K–$85K (Full-Time)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Control System Engineer with strong expertise in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial automation. The ideal candidate will lead design, development, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably within pharmaceutical or regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, troubleshoot, and commission Allen Bradley PLC (CompactLogix) systems using RSLogix / Studio 5000
  • Design and support SCADA/HMI systems (GE Proficy iFIX, FactoryTalk View ME)
  • Create and modify control system documentation:
  • P&IDs
  • Wiring diagrams
  • I/O lists
  • Functional specifications
  • Develop GAMP documentation (FS, HDS, SDS) as per project requirements
  • Configure and manage PC-based databases for control systems
  • Support system installation, commissioning, FAT/SAT activities
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of automation systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, QA, and operations
  • Provide technical support and assist with system upgrades and improvements
  • Ensure compliance with FDA / GMP / regulatory standards (preferred)
  • Travel to client/vendor sites as needed

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with:
  • Allen Bradley PLCs (CompactLogix / ControlLogix)
  • RSLogix / Studio 5000
  • SCADA tools (GE iFIX preferred, FactoryTalk acceptable)
  • Siemens PLC (TIA Portal)
  • Knowledge of:
  • Industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, etc.)
  • Control system design & documentation
  • Experience with:
  • Capital equipment / system integration
  • Validation processes (IQ/OQ/PQ, change control)
  • Basic understanding of:
  • Networking (IP troubleshooting)
  • ERP / MRP systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8–10 years of experience in automation / controls engineering
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical or regulated industry preferred
  • Strong project management and communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with:
  • FDA-regulated environments
  • Refrigeration systems
  • Multi-vendor system integration
