About the role

ABOUT EVVY

At Evvy, we believe the female body shouldn’t be a medical mystery.

We are a precision women’s health company leveraging the vaginal microbiome to improve outcomes across a woman's lifespan. Backed by $30M+ from leading investors, we serve over 100,000 patients and 2,000 providers nationwide with our validated Vaginal Microbiome Test and AI-powered personalized care platform.

Through this work, we have built the world’s largest dataset on the vaginal microbiome — a proprietary foundation that will drive breakthroughs in infertility, preterm birth, gynecological cancers, and beyond.

Why join now?

Evvy is a generational opportunity in women's health — and we're at the inflection point.

  • We’ve built a dataset no one has. Evvy has generated the world’s largest vaginal microbiome dataset from 100,000+ patients, uncovering novel biological markers underlying women’s health conditions that collectively cost the healthcare system $180B+ annually.
  • Validated, AI-first platform. We’ve built a comprehensive testing and care platform that unlocks personalized treatment pathways for each patient. Our work is supported by research published in major peer-reviewed journals and presented at major clinical conferences (including ACOG, ASRM, IDSOG, and more).
  • Proven traction, massive opportunity. We serve 100,000+ patients and 2,000 providers nationwide, with rapidly growing revenue and an expanding suite of diagnostics and treatments to improve outcomes across condition areas. We've only scratched the surface.
  • Top tier team, investors, and partners. Our world-class team is backed by industry leading investors, including General Catalyst, Left Lane Capital, US Fertility, and Labcorp.

We're looking for high-horsepower, mission-driven people who find it unacceptable that the female body is still a medical mystery — and want to help change that.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Controller to build the financial operating system that powers Evvy’s next stage of growth.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you’ll own the accounting function end-to-end as our first in-house accounting hire — from close process and ERP implementation to financial reporting, controls, and scalable infrastructure. You’ll play a foundational role in helping Evvy mature from a fast-growing startup into a world-class operational organization.

This is a rare opportunity for someone who enjoys both strategic finance and hands-on execution. You should be equally comfortable partnering on capital raises, financial planning, and unit economics as you are rolling up your sleeves on reconciliations, AP, and building accounting processes from scratch.

We’re looking for a builder: someone deeply fluent in accounting fundamentals, but equally energized by systems design, automation, and using modern tools — including AI — to create a finance function that scales intelligently.

Evvy is a primarily in-person team based in New York, NY. Given the cross-functional nature of this role, our ideal candidate is located in NYC.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Build Financial Infrastructure

  • Own and scale Evvy’s accounting function, including close processes, reconciliations, reporting, controls, and day-to-day accounting operations
  • Design and implement scalable accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls
  • Lead ERP and financial tooling evaluations and implementations end-to-end
  • Develop accounting policies and procedures that support compliance while enabling speed and scalability
  • Identify opportunities for automation and operational leverage across the finance function

Drive Financial Accuracy & Operational Rigor

  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings, tax reporting, audits, and compliance requirements
  • Manage AP, vendor payments, and core accounting operations with strong attention to detail
  • Partner with Operations on inventory accounting, COGS, gross margin, and unit economics
  • Build budget-vs-actual reporting frameworks and support department leaders in understanding their financial performance

Partner on Strategic Finance

  • Support fundraising processes through diligence preparation, investor reporting, and financial analysis
  • Partner with leadership on financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making
  • Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and finance vendors
  • Help build the systems and reporting infrastructure required to scale efficiently over time

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • CPA required; 8–10 yrs of progressive accounting experience, with 2–3+ years in a startup, high-growth, or DTC environment.
  • Proven ability to build accounting infrastructure from scratch, not just inherit and maintain it.
  • Deep technical accounting skills paired with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable with using agents & AI tools to supercharge accounting workflows.
  • Hands-on ERP selection and implementation experience (NetSuite, Rillet, Campfire, or similar).
  • Highly organized; manages competing deadlines without dropping the ball.
  • Clear communicator who can translate complex financial concepts for non-finance audiences, written and verbal.
  • Self-starter with a builder’s mindset: sees the gap, designs the solution, executes.
  • Comfortable operating across the full range: stepping up as a thought leader on strategic decisions, and rolling up your sleeves on AP, reconciliations, and the day-to-day.

It's a plus if you have:

  • Experience with subscription, DTC, or healthcare revenue models and the accounting nuances they bring.
  • Inventory accounting and COGS experience in a physical product or diagnostics context.
  • Background reporting to or working alongside a CFO/Head of Finance: strategic layer experience, not just in the books.
  • Exposure to R&D accounting or tax credit workflows.
