Job Statement

Develop machine control and human machine interface software for EMD equipment. Participate in engineering, testing, startups, and service visits.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

In the project phase, the individual is responsible for:

· Developing the machine code in Siems PLC system as well as Human Machine Interface (HMI), software so that equipment functions as specified.

· Testing software modifications to the extent possible prior to delivery (shop test).

· Participating in or leading start up activities at customer site including:

  • Checkout of electrical, Siemens PLC and HMI portions.
  • Commissioning of equipment such that specifications are met.
  • Deliver technical training to customers' operators and/or maintenance personnel as needed
  • Making return trips to the site to eliminate warranty issues or address customer needs

In the product life cycle phase, the individual is responsible for:

  • Deliver technical training to customers' operators and/or maintenance personnel as needed

Internal and external interfaces

This position interacts with other internal engineering groups, with vendors and suppliers, as needed. May interact with Procurement / Purchasing groups, Applications, or Product Managers.

Authority

This position has no direct reports / managerial responsibilities. Acts under the director of the department manager.

Qualifications and experience

A must have minimum of 5 years of Siemens PLC and HMI Programming. Detailed knowledge and experience of industrial automation products and process control, preferably within the chemical industry.

REQUIRED:

  • Strong Siemens PLC and HMI programming skills.
  • Understanding of Electrical and process diagrams/schematics.
  • Understating fluid systems and pneumatic systems including valving and transmitters.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance, including long periods of standing during recruitment/job fairs. Movement through plant environments.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Visual acuity is required to read and produce accurate materials.
  • Use of keyboards, telephones, copiers, fax.
