We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support automation initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automation equipment, tooling, and control systems to optimize manufacturing processes and maximize machine uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance existing automation equipment, tooling, and applications to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Develop and maintain technical manuals, electrical drawings, equipment models, training documents, preventive maintenance plans, and troubleshooting guides.
- Analyze machine operating principles, identify wear-and-tear issues, and address product defects related to automation systems.
- Improve machine uptime by implementing preventive maintenance strategies and supporting breakdown maintenance activities.
- Conduct root cause analysis (Why-Why analysis) and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Provide recommendations to improve equipment and process design for better automation effectiveness.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to execute continuous improvement projects.
- Support the planning, implementation, and maintenance of automation systems for new product introductions.
- Drive process improvements to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of automation frameworks.
- Continuously learn and expand expertise across various automation technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in controls/automation engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Allen Bradley Studio 5000
- FactoryTalk ME / SE
- Siemens PLC Programming
- Experience with OT Networking
- Strong skills in electrical troubleshooting and system design
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
