Controls Engineer – 3rd Shift

Location: Grand Prairie, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Annual Base Salary: $110,000

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will develop and implement program improvements that reduce machine downtime and enhance overall system efficiency. You will support multiple machinery systems in a fast‑paced, complex JIT assembly environment. This position plays a key role in driving continuous improvement, supporting plant goals, and contributing to a high‑performing team culture.

Responsibilities

Your key duties will include:

  • Develop and implement software and hardware changes to improve efficiency, reliability, and quality.
  • Troubleshoot, modify, and program PLC systems to resolve issues and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with external contractors, vendors, and suppliers to execute required work.
  • Partner with other internal departments to ensure peak production line performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine parameters, program changes, tools, and supplies.
  • Manage and track parts inventory to minimize machine and production downtime.
  • Maintain documentation for equipment repairs, drawings, diagrams, manuals, and preventive maintenance.
  • Support launch activities, maintain workplace organization, and adhere to ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or 2+ years of related experience/training (or equivalent combination).
  • Hands-on experience with Rockwell PLCs (ControlLogix, MicroLogix, CompactLogix), including ladder logic and program modifications.
  • Experience programming HMI systems (e.g., PanelView).
  • Experience with automation equipment, including Fanuc/ABB robots and vision systems.
  • Experience with electric torque control equipment (Atlas Copco / Stanley).

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Ability to supervise maintenance personnel during periods of absence or vacation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
